Mark’s Custom Prosthesis

mark's photoMark came to see us at the Ledbrook Clinic after losing his leg below the knee following a motorcycle accident. He found that the prosthesis supplied by the NHS was poorly fitting and that the NHS could not offer him the level of service he needed in terms of the prosthesis they could supply for his needs.

Appointments were invariably short and aftercare was lacking. He could not be supplied with the type of high activity prosthesis he needed for his lifestyle, At the Ledbrook Clinic, we offer prostheses to suit all lifestyles and activity levels. Mark has a young family, and prior to his accident, enjoyed walking, camping, climbing, swimming, kayaking, jet-skiing. Mark has now been supplied with his high activity prosthesis.

He wanted to replicate the Celtic pattern on his T-shirt on to his socket, which the Ledbrook Clinic were able to fabricate using Hydrographic printing, which only a few specialist companies are able to do.

Thanks to his new prosthesis, he is able to enjoy life to the full. His next prosthesis will be a waterproof prosthesis, so he can swim, jet-ski and kayak. He is unstoppable!

Mark’s Active Lifestyle

Mark is an extremely active amputee who has already been supplied with a high activity prosthesis by the Ledbrook Clinic. He was so happy with his first prosthesis that he has ordered a water limb to enable him to pursue the water sports he enjoys.

The water limb is made of stainless steel parts so that the parts don’t rust. The custom made pattern on the socket was supplied by an American company, and the Rush foot Mark is wearing (insert link) is one of the most high profile builds of foot currently available. Any amputee needing a high-level responsive foot can use the Rush foot.
