Patients will be reviewed by Dr. Lindsay or John Young for a full bio-mechanical assessment. The patient will have a full analysis of their muscle power, which will be graded and tested for the volitional force of muscle groups, on a scale of 1 to 5.
Hypertonicity muscle estimates are made in the functional position for lower limb during standing and walking for us to assess the patient’s needs and assess the best orthosis.
All orthoses are force systems that act on the body segments. The orthosis is used for a support, a correction of a deformity or stabilization of a joint or limb.
Old orthoses will be assessed for functionality and the decision will be made on the patient’s requirements at each joint level and for each movement (flexion, extension, adduction, abduction, rotation and axial load). After a thorough analysis, we will be able to recommend the best orthosis for your particular needs.
