Rachel’s Carbon Fibre Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis

Rachel came to the clinic for a brace, which would enable her to weight bear. She was born with Klippel–Trénaunay syndrome (KTS), and had numerous operations on her knee.

The knee is fixed at 30 degrees of flexion, and she has a 4 cms shortening. Rachel has been walking on elbow crutches all her life, but now her hands, elbows, shoulders and neck are becoming painful due to the pressure she applies through her crutches.

The Ledbrook Clinic supplied her with a carbon fibre Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis, with auto quick release joints. At her final appointment, Rachel was able to dispense with the crutches and just walk with one stick, and she is confident that she could walk without the stick.
