Following a very long and frustrating experience with the NHS, which resulted in several callipers that were not fit for purpose and poor quality, I contacted Ledbrook Clinic in hope of a more positive experience that would meet my specific needs and requirements.  I was given an immediate appointment for an initial consultation where I had the opportunity to explain the background to my situation in detail.  I was then measured for a new calliper and presented with various different options (in contrast to my NHS experience) to improve my walking.

I opted for a carbon-fibre calliper, largely because of its lighter weight and durability, and this was constructed over a period of weeks, as opposed to months and years.  I had three fittings before the caliper was ready and, during this time, I also chose to have made-to-measure boots in order to improve my walking further.  At this point, I was advised that the previous callipers I’d been wearing were having an adverse impact on my good leg which would begin to be addressed by the enhanced support from the new boots.  Again, I had never received this message from the NHS and welcomed the proactive advice and long-term outlook for my future.

Overall, I have been extremely pleased and satisfied with the service and process and can honestly say I now have the best calliper and boots I’ve ever worn in my life!  It is half the weight of my old calliper and feels significantly lighter when I’m walking.  I also feel my posture is straighter and my walking style and speed are hugely improved.  Ledbrook Clinic has offered a very responsive, flexible and speedy service in accordance with my needs and I would definitely use their services again.
