Jessica Webb, Aged 30, Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 2010
After having my application for FES rejected due to red tape I was absolutely devastated, the thought of not walking due to Multiple Sclerosis was more than I could bare. After a couple of days I decided to take action and look for an alternative. I decided that I couldn’t put a price on walking and was prepared to go private if necessary. I quickly found Ledbrook on line and called them up, Theresa Young was amazingly helpful and friendly, she made an appointment for me 2 days later and I instantly felt better about the whole situation. It was a risky thing to do, going off-piste finding a specialist outside of the security of the NHS, but I believe it was the best decision I have made so far throughout my journey in dealing with this disease. I met John Young and his attention to the way that I walked, the in depth explanation of other equipment available and his personable manner made me feel safe and secure that my decision about the WalkAide was correct. A couple of days later I headed back to the Ledbrook Clinic where the WalkAide was fitted so I could trail it. Knowing myself that I was too emotionally involved I asked them to film me walking without the WalkAide on and with it on, as you can see from the videos below, I had to have it.
The aftercare with the Ledbrook clinic has been amazing and it is a pleasure to go to the appointments. I have used the WalkAide everyday since I purchased it and it has transformed my life. I no longer have to concentrate so hard on my feet, I am gaining more and more confidence in the equipment. I am gaining more and more confidence in the equipment itself and find it has not only improved my gait, but it has also given me some personal confidence back. I am forever grateful to the Ledbrook Clinic for ensuring that the WalkAide can optimise my ability to walk.
Thank you
Jessica
