Cosmetic Silicone Prosthetic Toe for Alicja
I first came to the Ledbrook Clinic for an assessment with the Clinical team at the end of November 2013. I had an industrial accident in 2012 sustaining a crush injury to my right foot, which resulted in having my entire 4th toe amputated. Since that time, I have experienced marked clawing of the toes on my right foot, with the metatarsal head dropping and my gait severely affected.
When I came to the Clinic, I met with the team who examined me and advised me that I could have a prosthetic toe made. I was absolutely delighted, as I did not think this was possible because there was no residual digit at all. The team explained the process and then I was assessed, measured, cast and colour matched for my prosthetic toe. When I came back 2 weeks later, I was fitted with my check socket toe which I wore for 2 weeks to make sure I could get on with this prosthetic toe and it was comfortable. I then came back after 2 weeks, and was delighted with the fit. The technician then did another colour match, and made some slight adjustments to the fit.
I have now had my prosthetic toe fitted at the Ledbrook Clinic, and it has totally exceeded my expectations! The toe feels great and I am looking forward to wearing all my summer shoes again as soon as the weather gets better! I had a lot of question about the toe when I came to the Clinic, and the team were so professional in answering all my questions. I would recommend the Clinic to anyone who has experienced a similar accident or trauma.
As you can see from the pictures, the difference is amazing.
